Technical note
This CLIA kit uses the Sandwich-CLIA principle. The micro CLIA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human AIF. Samples or Standards are added to the micro CLIA plate wells and combined with the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human AIF and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate are added successively to each micro plate well and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human AIF, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear luminescence. The Relative light unit (RLU) value is measured by the Chemiluminescence immunoassay analyzer at 425nm. The RLU value is positively associated with the concentration of Human AIF. You can calculate the concentration of Human AIF in the samples by comparing the RLU value of the samples to the standard curve.

Research target context

AIFM1apoptosis inducing factor mitochondria associated 1

View target guide

AIFM1 is apoptosis inducing factor mitochondria associated 1, encoding the mitochondrial apoptosis-inducing factor 1 (AIF). It is a mitochondrial flavoprotein with oxidoreductase activity that can also participate in caspase-independent cell-death pathways after release from mitochondria.

Biological function: AIFM1 functions as a mitochondrial NADH oxidoreductase and contributes to mitochondrial physiology. Following defined cell-death stimuli, apoptosis-inducing factor 1 can be released from the mitochondrial intermembrane space and translocate toward the nucleus, where it contributes to caspase-independent chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation.
