Built around the experiment

Your project. A defined technical scope.

Custom ELISA development is useful when an off-the-shelf assay does not match your analyte, species, sample matrix or performance requirement. ABMIUM reviews the measurement objective and coordinates a suitable development route. Define the expected concentration range, available sample volume and decision the assay must support. Development and validation stages should be agreed before kit quantities or performance claims are confirmed.

ABMIUM reviews your specification and coordinates suitable custom-service and manufacturing routes. The proposed provider or manufacturer, available documentation and agreed scope are stated before order.

Service modules

Start with one module or combine related stages into a clearly scoped project.

Technical scope

Discuss sandwich, competitive or indirect formats in relation to the target and available binding reagents. Include species, isoform, reference material and cross-reactivity concerns. The choice of format should follow the biology and sample rather than a fixed template.

Technical scope

Explore antibody pair screening, coating conditions and detection chemistry. State whether suitable antibodies or standards are already available. Where new reagents are needed, antibody development or recombinant protein supply can be scoped as connected work.

Technical scope

Describe serum, plasma, lysate, culture supernatant or another intended matrix. Discuss dilution, interference, recovery and the concentration range that matters. A detection limit is useful only when considered alongside precision and performance in the relevant sample.

Technical scope

Define the requested precision, dilution linearity, recovery, cross-reactivity and stability studies. Agree the plate format, number of tests, controls and documentation. Research assay development does not by itself establish clinical diagnostic validation.

Research applications

Research biomarker measurement

Develop a single-analyte measurement route for a defined experimental question and specimen type.

Species-specific assays

Discuss analytes or species combinations that are not covered by a standard catalogue kit.

Cell-culture and functional studies

Connect cytokine or protein measurements to cell-engineering and other in vitro research workflows.

Project deliverables

Material, experiments and documentation are defined in the quotation. Select the deliverables that your study needs.

  • An agreed assay format, reagent configuration and method description.
  • Development and validation data for the commissioned parameters.
  • Assay material, controls or kits at the specified quantity where included.
  • Defined storage, handling, QC and available lot documentation.

Clear answers before you enquire

Frequently asked questions

Can an assay be developed for my sample matrix?

Provide the matrix and available sample volumes. Matrix suitability and access to representative samples are assessed during feasibility review.

Can I specify a target LOD?

Yes, as a development requirement. The achievable detection limit and working range require experimental assessment and are not guaranteed at enquiry.

Can you develop an assay using my antibodies?

Include clone, format and available material details. The route can assess their suitability for capture, detection and pair screening.

Is a custom ELISA automatically an IVD test?

No. These pages describe research services. Any diagnostic intended use requires a separately defined regulatory and validation scope.

When is custom ELISA development better than a catalogue kit?

Consider custom work when the available kit does not cover your species, sample matrix, molecular form or measurement range. First review whether a suitable catalogue assay can be evaluated. A custom programme should define the measurement objective and evidence needed to justify its additional development work.

Is a low detection limit enough for our assay?

No. The useful range must also support precision, recovery and dilution behaviour in your samples. Distinguish limit of detection from reliable quantification, and assess matrix interference and cross-reactivity. Specify the concentration range relevant to your experiment.

What affects the cost of custom elisa development?

Pricing depends on availability of antibodies and standards, matrix optimisation, measurement range, validation studies and assay supply. ABMIUM provides a project-specific quotation after reviewing the requirement. Ask for a breakdown of stages, deliverables, optional studies and further-work decision points so you can compare the total scope rather than an entry price alone.
