Product Information

Each bottle includes a linerless cap made from polypropylene, designed to create a secure, leakproof seal without requiring a separate liner. This simplifies sealing while reducing contamination risk. Guaranteed leakproof even by air transport, -95kPa rated. ideal for safe storage and transport of liquids, including hazardous or sensitive substances. The wide mouth opening makes filling easy, even with viscous liquids or solid samples.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – Sterile Natural Storage Bottles
Product Quality & Compliance
Are the sterile bottles cytotoxic?

No, these bottles are non-cytotoxic and tested in accordance with USP <87> standards.

What grade resin is used in these bottles?

The bottles are manufactured from USP Class VI plastics, tested per USP <88>, ensuring high biocompatibility for sensitive applications.

Are the bottles endotoxin free?

Yes, sterile bottles are endotoxin free and tested according to USP <85> standards.

Are the bottles BSE/TSE free?

Yes, the bottles are BSE/TSE free, with no animal-derived materials used during manufacturing.

Sterility & Packaging
Are these bottles sterile?

Yes, the bottles are supplied sterile and ready for immediate use.

How are the bottles sterilized?

They are typically sterilized using validated methods such as electron beam (E-beam), ensuring a high sterility assurance level (SAL).

What is the sterility assurance level (SAL)?

Sterile bottles are processed to an SAL of 10⁻⁶, meaning there is a one in one million probability of a viable microorganism being present.

How are the bottles packaged?

Bottles are packaged individually or in bulk in sterile, sealed bags to maintain sterility until use.

Sterilization Effects & Material Appearance
Does E-beam or gamma sterilization affect bottle color or appearance?

In some cases, yes. E-beam sterilization can cause slight yellowing in HDPE and PP materials, depending on resin formulation, dose level, and stabilizers used. HDPE may show minimal yellowing under certain conditions PP is slightly more sensitive and may show mild color change at higher doses Medical-grade resins are formulated to minimize these effects This discoloration is typically cosmetic only and does not affect performance or sterility.

Is discoloration a sign of product damage?

No. Any slight color shift caused by irradiation is a normal material response and does not indicate reduced sterility or compromised mechanical performance.

Do amber bottles show sterilization discoloration?

No. Amber bottles naturally mask any potential color changes caused by sterilization, which is one reason they are preferred for light-sensitive applications.

Why is my sterile bottle yellow-tinted instead of off-white?

Nest does not use any additives in the plastics used to manufacture these bottles; they are made from pure USP Class VI resin. Plastic naturally undergoes slight cross-linking over time, which can cause harmless cosmetic yellowing. E-beam sterilization significantly accelerates this yellowing process. In non-sensitive applications, phosphite antioxidants (such as Irgafos 168) are often added to plastics to prevent yellowing. However, these antioxidants can break down into reactive byproducts that may leach into products stored in the bottles. The negative effects of these leachables on experimental outcomes are well documented, which is why we choose not to include them.

If cosmetic clarity is critical, we recommend using non-sterile bottles that have not been irradiated.

Advantages of Sterile Bottles
What are the benefits of using sterile bottles?

Sterile bottles offer several key advantages: Eliminate pre-cleaning or sterilization steps – ready to use out of the package Reduce contamination risk in critical workflows Save time and labor in laboratory and production environments Improve consistency across batches and processes Support regulatory compliance in GMP and cleanroom settings

When should I use sterile bottles instead of non-sterile?

Sterile bottles are recommended for: Cell culture and media preparation Pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing Diagnostic and clinical applications Aseptic sampling and filling processes
