NEST Male Luer Connectors provide a compact and practical solution for joining tubing to compatible female Luer components. The hose-barb design supports proper tubing attachment, while the twist-to-connect interface helps simplify fluid-path assembly, equipment connection and component changes. Multiple hose barb sizes accommodate tubing with inner diameters from 1/16 inch through 1/4 inch. Polypropylene construction, USP Class VI compliance and documented performance testing support use in media and buffer transfer, filtration, sampling and other biopharmaceutical fluid-handling workflows.
NEST Luer Connectors create compact fluid-transfer connections between compatible components in single-use bioprocessing systems. They can connect tubing assemblies, bags, bottles, filters, sampling containers and compatible processing equipment.
A male Luer connector has an external mating interface that connects to a compatible female Luer fitting. A female Luer connector has an internal mating interface that connects to a compatible male Luer fitting. Both versions include a hose barb for attachment to appropriately sized tubing.
Male and female NEST Luer Connectors are available for tubing with the following inner diameters: • 1/16″ (1.6 mm) • 3/32″ (1.9 mm) • 1/8″ (3.2 mm) • 5/32″ (4.0 mm) • 3/16″ (4.8 mm) • 1/4″ (6.4 mm)
Select the male or female interface required by the mating component and match the hose-barb size to the tubing’s inner diameter. Confirm dimensional, material and functional compatibility with the complete fluid-transfer assembly before ordering.
Align the compatible male and female Luer interfaces and twist the two components together until securely connected. Avoid overtightening or using excessive force.
Hold both connector components and twist them apart. After separation, install the appropriate Luer cap or plug to close and protect each open fluid path.
A compatible Luer cap closes a male Luer connector. A compatible Luer plug closes a female Luer connector. Verify the closure type and interface before ordering.
The hose-barb design helps retain compatible tubing and supports proper assembly of the fluid-transfer line. Tubing material, inner diameter, wall thickness and assembly method should be evaluated for the intended application.
The connector design allows the joined components to rotate during connection, helping reduce tubing twisting and supporting more flexible assembly positioning.
No. The connectors are supplied non-sterile and double-bagged for use as components in fluid-transfer assemblies.
The connectors support either electron beam irradiation at 50–55 kGy or steam sterilization at 121°C for 30 minutes. The selected method and completed assembly should be appropriately validated before use.
No. The two sterilization methods are mutually exclusive. Do not apply both methods to the same connector or completed assembly.
The connectors demonstrated no leakage at room temperature under 410 kPa for 30 minutes under the documented test conditions. Users should evaluate the connectors with their specific tubing, mating components, process fluids and operating conditions.
The product documentation references sealing, freeze resistance, radiation resistance, acid and alkali resistance, bacterial endotoxin, nuclease, insoluble particulate, and high-temperature and high-pressure testing.
The documented testing includes ISO 10993-4 hemolysis, ISO 10993-5 and USP <87> in vitro cytotoxicity, ISO 10993-6 implantation, ISO 10993-23 skin irritation, ISO 10993-11 and USP <88> systemic toxicity, and ISO 10993-10 irritation and delayed hypersensitivity. For additional information, review the official ISO 10993-1 biological-evaluation standard, USP <87> Biological Reactivity Tests, In Vitro and USP <88> Biological Reactivity Tests, In Vivo.
The product documentation references extractables and leachables testing based on USP General Chapters <665> and <1665>. Review the official USP <1665> guidance and read NEST’s overview of extractables and leachables in bioprocessing applications.
Male and female Luer Connectors are double-bagged and packaged 100 pieces per bag.
The connectors are designed to connect with compatible Luer fittings without modification. Users should confirm dimensional, material and functional compatibility with the intended mating component before incorporating a connector into a validated process.
