Read more about the role of extractables and leachables testing in single-use bioprocessing systems and review NEST’s broader manufacturing certifications and quality controls. NEST Aseptic Connectors provide a convenient solution for creating secure fluid-transfer connections in closed, single-use bioprocessing workflows. Their genderless design, audible connection confirmation and broad tubing-size compatibility help streamline system assembly while reducing the potential for connection errors.
Standard, Mini and Enhanced Plug configurations allow users to select the appropriate connector for applications ranging from small-volume tubing assemblies to higher-volume process-fluid transfers. Double-bagged packaging supports handling and transfer into controlled bioprocessing environments. Select one approved sterilization method for each connector: electron beam irradiation at 50–55 kGy or steam sterilization at 121°C for 30 minutes. Do not apply both sterilization methods to the same connector.
NEST Aseptic Connectors create secure fluid-transfer connections between compatible components in closed, single-use bioprocessing systems. Applications include the transfer of media, buffers, process fluids and other liquids between tubing assemblies, bags, bottles and processing equipment.
Yes. The connectors are designed to enable aseptic fluid-transfer connections in non-sterile environments. The protective covers and removable membrane help protect the fluid path during assembly when the prescribed connection procedure is followed.
Both connector halves use the same genderless interface, eliminating the need to select separate male and female components. This design can simplify system configuration, product selection and inventory management.
Remove the protective covers, confirm that the membrane is flat, align the two connector halves with the slots and press firmly until an audible “click” confirms engagement. Pull the tabs downward to remove the membrane and open the fluid path. Enhanced Plug versions require installation of the included plugs after the connection is completed.
Standard Aseptic Connectors accommodate tubing sizes from 1/4 inch through 3/4 inch. Mini Aseptic Connectors accommodate tubing sizes from 1/8 inch through 3/8 inch.
Standard connectors support larger tubing sizes from 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch. Mini connectors have a more compact design and support tubing sizes from 1/8 inch to 3/8 inch.
The connector’s main body is manufactured from polycarbonate. The sealing ring is made from medical-grade silicone. According to the product documentation, both materials comply with the ISO 10993 biological evaluation framework.
NEST Aseptic Connectors support either electron beam irradiation at 50–55 kGy or steam sterilization at 121°C for 30 minutes. These methods are mutually exclusive; do not apply both sterilization methods to the same connector.
The connector demonstrated no leakage at room temperature under 410 kPa for 30 minutes under the stated test conditions. Users should evaluate suitability for their specific process conditions before use.
The connectors are double-bagged, with one connector per bag and 10 connectors per case. Double-bagged packaging supports handling and introduction into controlled bioprocessing environments.
