TLR2 is a cell-surface pattern-recognition receptor of the Toll-like receptor family that contributes to innate immune sensing of microbial components, including bacterial lipopeptides. In mouse, Tlr2 is located on the external side of the plasma membrane and participates in signalling pathways that regulate defence responses and cytokine production.
