JAM3 is a counter-receptor for ITGAM, mediating leukocyteplatelet interactions and is involved in the regulation of transepithelial migration of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN). A mutation in an intron of the JAM3 gene is linked with hemorrhagic destruction of the brain, subependymal calcification, and congenital cataracts.
