Product description

Background

Cleaves collagens of types I, II, and III at one site in the helical domain. Also cleaves collagens of types VII and X (PubMed: 2557822, PubMed: 2153297, PubMed: 1645757). In case of HIV infection, interacts and cleaves the secreted viral Tat protein, leading to a decrease in neuronal Tat's mediated neurotoxicity (PubMed: 16807369).

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human MMP1 antibody. MMP1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human MMP1 Antibody is added and binds to MMP1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated MMP1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human MMP1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

MMP1matrix metallopeptidase 1

View target guide

Matrix metallopeptidase 1 (MMP1), also known as interstitial collagenase or collagenase-1, is a secreted zinc-dependent matrix metalloproteinase involved in extracellular-matrix turnover. ABMIUM catalogue products linked below support research on MMP1 biology.

Biological function: Matrix metallopeptidase 1 (MMP1/interstitial collagenase) is a secreted zinc-dependent endopeptidase that cleaves fibrillar collagens and other extracellular-matrix substrates. By contributing to collagen breakdown and matrix remodelling, MMP1 participates in normal tissue turnover and is widely studied in repair, inflammation, fibrosis and tumour-stroma biology.
