Phenylethanolamine A has a strong and long-lasting effect on relaxing bronchial smooth muscle and is used as an anti-asthma drug in humans. After entering the animal body, it can change the metabolic pathway of nutrients, promote animal muscle growth, accelerate the conversion and decomposition of fat, and increase the lean meat rate of livestock. It is one of the β-agonist illegally produced in animal husbandry. Eating food with excessive Clenbuterol-Ractopamine-Salbutamol residues can cause human poisoning, so most countries prohibit its use in livestock and poultry breeding. Phenylethanolamine A residues in food can be determined by methods such as HPLC or GC-MS. However, these traditional methods usually require very expensive preparation procedures.
