Product description

Background

Receptor for interleukin-2. The receptor is involved in the regulation of immune tolerance by controlling regulatory T cells (TREGs) activity. TREGs suppress the activation and expansion of autoreactive T-cells.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human IL2RA antibody. IL2RA present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human IL2RA Antibody is added and binds to IL2RA in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated IL2RA antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human IL2RA. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

IL2RAinterleukin 2 receptor subunit alpha

View target guide

IL2RA identifies interleukin 2 receptor subunit alpha in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 3559, UniProtKB P01589 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: IL2RA encodes the alpha subunit of the interleukin-2 receptor, also known as CD25. IL2RA binds IL-2 and contributes to formation of the high-affinity IL-2 receptor complex with IL2RB and the common gamma-chain, supporting IL-2-dependent immune signalling and helping regulate regulatory T-cell activity and immune tolerance.
