Custom Antibody Development
Custom monoclonal, polyclonal and recombinant antibody development. Discuss antigen design, application screening, purification and a project quote with ABMIUM.
Specification reviewed before feasibility, pricing and lead time are confirmed.

Built around the experiment
Your project. A defined technical scope.
ABMIUM coordinates custom antibody development when a catalogue reagent does not meet your target, species, epitope or application requirements. Start with an antigen, peptide, existing clone or sequence. We review the experimental objective, select a suitable development route and define screening and deliverables before work begins. Custom antibodies can support discovery research, assay development and cell engineering, with performance assessed in the intended application.
Specialist ProMab service routes can be coordinated through ABMIUM. Your quotation identifies the selected provider, agreed stages, available documentation and material or experimental deliverables.
ABMIUM reviews your specification and coordinates suitable custom-service and manufacturing routes. The proposed provider or manufacturer, available documentation and agreed scope are stated before order.

Technical scope
Discuss immunogen preparation, host species, immunisation, clone screening and subcloning. Define whether your priority is recognition of a native surface antigen, a denatured protein or a particular epitope. An ELISA-positive clone is a starting point; application-specific screening should be included where it is needed.

Technical scope
Request a peptide or protein immunogen route, serum collection and purification matched to the experiment. Specify affinity purification, pre-immune material, species reactivity and the amount required. Conjugation and labelling can be discussed alongside the primary development scope.

Technical scope
Explore human antibody library screening against a defined antigen, followed by clone selection, sequence analysis and recombinant reformatting. Provide antigen presentation requirements and the binding assay you intend to use. Fully human discovery and humanisation of an existing non-human clone are different project routes.
Application screening and antibody production

Technical scope
Define screening in WB, IHC, IF, flow cytometry, IP or ELISA according to your intended use. Include positive and negative controls, sample preparation and expected localisation. Production, purification, formulation and repeat supply can be scoped after a suitable clone is selected.

Clear answers before you enquire
Frequently asked questions
Can I start with a peptide rather than a protein?
Yes. Include the sequence, terminal modifications and intended use. The review considers antigen presentation and whether a peptide-derived antibody is appropriate for the assay.
Are fully human antibodies and humanised antibodies the same?
No. Fully human discovery starts from a human antibody repertoire. Humanisation engineers an existing non-human antibody sequence. ABMIUM can help define the appropriate route.
Will an antibody work in every application?
Application suitability must be evaluated. Specify the assays you need before quotation so screening in those contexts can be included.
Can I request a custom antibody quote in the UK?
Use the form below or contact info@abmium.com. ABMIUM reviews the technical specification and coordinates the proposed provider, documentation, pricing and delivery terms.
Monoclonal, polyclonal or recombinant: which route fits?
A defined clone suits projects that need repeatable recognition of one epitope. A polyclonal preparation can offer broader epitope coverage but needs appropriate controls and lot planning. Recombinant production supports sequence-defined repeat supply. Choose the route around your application and evidence requirements rather than host species alone.
How do we specify screening for Western blot, IHC or flow cytometry?
State the sample species, preparation and target state. Western blot screening may involve denatured protein, whereas flow cytometry may require recognition on intact cells. IHC performance depends on fixation and retrieval. Include positive and negative controls, and agree application screening before commissioning development.
What affects the cost of custom antibody development?
Pricing depends on antigen preparation, antibody strategy, screening applications, purification and final quantity. ABMIUM provides a project-specific quotation after reviewing the requirement. Ask for a breakdown of stages, deliverables, optional studies and further-work decision points so you can compare the total scope rather than an entry price alone.
