Product description

BMS-309403 is a potent (Ki <2 nM FABP4, Ki = 250 nM FABP3, Ki = 350 nM FABP5) and selective inhibitor of the fatty-acid-binding protein aP2 (FABP4). BMS-309403 stimulated glucose uptake in myotubes via activation of AMPK. It decreased ER stress-associated inflammation in skeletal muscle and suppressed inflammation and oxidative stress in mouse and cell models of acute lung injury

Activity
BMS-309403 is a potent (Ki <2 nM FABP4, Ki = 250 nM FABP3, Ki = 350 nM FABP5) and selective inhibitor of the fatty-acid-binding protein aP2 (FABP4). It demonstrated marked reductions in atherosclerotic lesions in an Apoe-/- mouse model and improved glucose metabolism, reduced inflammation, and increased insulin sensitivity in a Lepob/ob mouse model. BMS-309403 stimulated glucose uptake in myotubes via activation of AMPK. It decreased ER stress-associated inflammation in skeletal muscle and suppressed inflammation and oxidative stress in mouse and cell models of acute lung injury.

Research target context

FABP4fatty acid binding protein 4

View target guide

FABP4 identifies fatty acid binding protein 4 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 2167, UniProtKB P15090 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: Fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4; A-FABP/aP2) is a cytoplasmic lipid-binding protein enriched in adipocytes that binds long-chain fatty acids and related hydrophobic ligands and participates in fatty-acid transport and metabolic signalling.
