L'angiopoïétine 1, également appelée ANG1, est un type d'angiopoïétine encodée par le gène ANGPT1. Les angiopoïétines sont des protéines jouant un rôle important dans le développement vasculaire et l'angiogenèse. Toutes les angiopoïétines se lient avec une affinité similaire à un récepteur tyrosine-protéine kinase spécifique des cellules endothéliales. Ce gène a été cartographié en 8q23.1. La protéine encodée par ce gène est une glycoprotéine sécrétée qui active le récepteur en induisant sa phosphorylation de tyrosine. Elle joue un rôle critique dans la médiation des interactions réciproques entre l'endothélium et la matrice environnante et le mésenchyme, et inhibe la perméabilité endothéliale. La protéine contribue également à la maturation et à la stabilité des vaisseaux sanguins, et pourrait être impliquée dans le développement précoce du cœur.
