IL1A is a cytokine constitutively present intracellularly in nearly all resting non-hematopoietic cells that plays an important role in inflammation and bridges the innate and adaptive immune systems. After binding to its receptor IL1R1 together with its accessory protein IL1RAP, forms the high affinity interleukin-1 receptor complex. signalling involves the recruitment of adapter molecules such as MYD88, IRAK1 or IRAK4.

IL1A identifies interleukin 1 alpha in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 3552, UniProtKB P01583 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.
Biological function: IL1A is an interleukin-1 family cytokine that acts as an inflammatory mediator and intracellular alarmin. After release or presentation it signals through IL1R1 with IL1RAP, activating NF-kB and MAPK pathways.
