Le facteur tissulaire, également appelé facteur tissulaire plaquettaire, facteur III, thrombokinase ou CD142, est une protéine présente dans les tissus sous-endothéliaux et les leucocytes, nécessaire à l'initiation de la formation de thrombine à partir de la prothrombine zymogène. Un synonyme incorrect est la thromboplastine. Le gène F3 a été cartographié en 1pter-p21 par l'étude d'hybrides de cellules somatiques avec un essai chromogène sensible spécifique à l'espèce. Ce gène code pour le facteur de coagulation III, qui est une glycoprotéine de surface cellulaire. Ce facteur permet aux cellules d'initier les cascades de coagulation sanguine, et il fonctionne comme le récepteur de haute affinité pour le facteur de coagulation VII.

Biological function: Coagulation factor III (F3/tissue factor/CD142) is the cellular receptor and cofactor for coagulation factor VII/VIIa.
