L'interleukine 17D (IL-17D) est un membre de la famille unique des IL-17, qui partagent un motif cystéine conservé. Elle est cartographiée à 13q12.11. L'IL-17D régule la production de cytokines dans les cellules endothéliales et inhibe l'hémopoïèse in vitro. L'IL-17D recombinante purifiée a inhibé la formation de colonies de cellules progénitrices myéloïdes. L'IL-17D peut améliorer la production d'IL6, d'IL8 et de GMCSF par les cellules endothéliales, mais pas d'autres cytokines. Et elle est préférentiellement exprimée dans les muscles squelettiques, le cerveau, le tissu adipeux, le cœur, les poumons et le pancréas.
