L'antigène d'histocompatibilité de classe II, chaîne gamma, également connu sous le nom de chaîne invariante associée aux antigènes HLA-DR ou CD74 (Cluster of Differentiation 74), est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène CD74. La protéine codée par ce gène s'associe au complexe majeur d'histocompatibilité (CMH) de classe II et est une importante chaperonne qui régule la présentation des antigènes pour la réponse immunitaire. Elle sert également de récepteur de surface cellulaire pour le facteur inhibiteur de la migration des macrophages (MIF) qui, lorsqu'il est lié à la protéine codée, déclenche des voies de survie et la prolifération cellulaire. Cette protéine interagit également avec la protéine précurseur de l'amyloïde (APP) et supprime la production d'amyloïde bêta (Abeta). Plusieurs variants de transcription épissés alternativement codant pour différentes isoformes ont été identifiés.
