La protéine 2 liée à l'angiopoïétine, également connue sous le nom de protéine 2 de type angiopoïétine, est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène ANGPTL2. Ce gène est localisé en 9q33.3. La protéine 2 de type angiopoïétine maintient l'homéostasie tissulaire en favorisant l'inflammation adaptative et la reconstruction tissulaire subséquente, tandis qu'un excès d'activation d'ANGPTL2 induit par un stress prolongé favorise la rupture de l'homéostasie tissulaire due à une inflammation chronique, favorisant le développement de maladies métaboliques. L'ANGPTL2 joue également un rôle dans l'angiogenèse, la réparation tissulaire, l'obésité, les maladies athérosclérotiques et enfin la carcinogenèse. Les angiopoïétines sont des membres de la famille du facteur de croissance endothélial vasculaire et les seuls facteurs de croissance connus largement spécifiques de l'endothélium vasculaire. L'angiopoïétine-1, l'angiopoïétine-2 et l'angiopoïétine-4 participent à la formation des vaisseaux sanguins. La protéine ANGPTL2 est une glycoprotéine sécrétée présentant une homologie avec les angiopoïétines et peut exercer une fonction sur les cellules endothéliales par action autocrine ou paracrine.
