Le facteur de croissance 1 liant l'héparine est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène FGF1. La protéine codée par ce gène est un membre de la famille des facteurs de croissance des fibroblastes (FGF). Cette protéine fonctionne comme un modificateur de la migration et de la prolifération des cellules endothéliales, ainsi qu'un facteur angiogénique. Elle agit comme un mitogène pour une variété de cellules dérivées du mésoderme et du neuroectoderme in vitro, et est donc considérée comme étant impliquée dans l'organogenèse. Le gène FGF1 a été cartographié sur le chromosome 5q31.3-q33.2 par hybridation in situ.
