Contexte

La GDP-mannose 4,6-déshydratase (GMD ; EC 4.2.1.47) catalyse la conversion du GDP-mannose en GDP-4-céto-6-désoxymannose, la première étape de la synthèse du GDP-fucose à partir du GDP-mannose, en utilisant le NADP+ comme cofacteur. Les deuxième et troisième étapes de la voie sont catalysées par une seule enzyme, la GDP-céto-6-désoxymannose 3,5-épimérase, 4-réductase, désignée FX chez l'homme (MIM 137020).
