Contexte

NEIL2 appartient à une classe de glycosylases d'ADN homologues à la famille bactérienne Fpg/Nei. Ces glycosylases initient la première étape de la réparation par excision de base en clivant les bases endommagées par les espèces réactives de l'oxygène et en introduisant une cassure de brin d'ADN via la réaction lyase associée (Bandaru et al., 2002 [PubMed 12509226])[fourni par OMIM, mars 2008].
