Ce gène code pour un membre de la famille des sulfotransférases HNK-1. La protéine encodée transfère le sulfate à l'hydroxyle C-4 des résidus N-acétylgalactosamine dans le dermatane sulfate. Des mutations de ce gène ont été associées au syndrome du pouce adducteur-pied bot [fourni par RefSeq, mars 2010].
