Les ribosomes, les organites qui catalysent la synthèse des protéines, sont constitués d'une petite sous-unité 40S et d'une grande sous-unité 60S. Ensemble, ces sous-unités sont composées de 4 espèces d'ARN et d'environ 80 protéines structurellement distinctes. Ce gène code une protéine ribosomale qui est un composant de la sous-unité 60S. La protéine appartient à la famille L29P des protéines ribosomales. Elle est située dans le cytoplasme.
