Ces produits comprennent les opioïdes pentapeptidiques Met-enképhaline et Leu-enképhaline, qui sont stockés dans des vésicules synaptiques, puis libérés dans la synapse où ils se lient aux récepteurs mu- et delta-opioïdes pour moduler la perception de la douleur.
