Ce gène code un membre de la famille des protéines F-box, caractérisée par un motif d'environ 40 acides aminés, la F-box. Les protéines F-box constituent l'une des quatre sous-unités du complexe ubiquitine-protéine ligase appelé SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), qui fonctionne dans l'ubiquitination dépendante de la phosphorylation. Les protéines F-box sont divisées en 3 classes : les Fbws contenant des domaines WD-40, les Fbls contenant des répétitions riches en leucine, et les Fbxs contenant soit différents modules d'interaction protéine-protéine, soit aucun motif reconnaissable. La protéine codée par ce gène appartient à la classe des Fbxs et pourrait jouer un rôle dans la régulation de l'hématopoïèse.
