L'anticorps polyclonaux de lapin anti-PBR est un anticorps d'ELK Biotechnology pour les flux de travail de recherche impliquant PBR.
Principalement présente dans le compartiment mitochondrial des tissus périphériques, la protéine encodée par ce gène interagit avec certaines benzodiazépines et possède des affinités différentes de celles de son homologue endogène. La protéine est un facteur clé dans le flux du cholestérol vers les mitochondries pour permettre l'initiation de la synthèse des hormones stéroïdes. Des variantes de transcription épissées de manière alternative ont été signalées ; l'une des variantes ne possède pas d'exon interne et est considérée comme non codante, et les autres variantes codent pour la même protéine.
