chymase 1 (CMA1) Homo sapiens Ce gène code une sérine protéase chymotryptique qui appartient à la famille des peptidases S1. Il est exprimé dans les mastocytes et on pense qu'il fonctionne dans la dégradation de la matrice extracellulaire, la régulation de la sécrétion des glandes sous-muqueuses et la génération de peptides vasoactifs. Dans le cœur et les vaisseaux sanguins, cette protéine, plutôt que l'enzyme de conversion de l'angiotensine, est largement responsable de la conversion de l'angiotensine I en peptide vasoactif angiotensine II.
