Ce gène a été identifié sur la base de sa stimulation par la protéine c-Myc. Cette dernière est un facteur de transcription qui participe à la régulation de la prolifération, de la différenciation et de l'apoptose cellulaires. La fonction exacte de ce gène n'est pas connue, mais des études chez le rat suggèrent un rôle dans la prolifération cellulaire et la transformation médiatisée par c-Myc.
