Contexte

Ce gène code un membre de la famille des profilines, petites protéines liant l'actine. La protéine encodée joue un rôle important dans la dynamique de l'actine en régulant la polymérisation de l'actine en réponse aux signaux extracellulaires. La délétion de ce gène est associée au syndrome de Miller-Dieker, et la protéine encodée pourrait également jouer un rôle dans la maladie de Huntington.
