Product description

Research target context

BMP5bone morphogenetic protein 5

View target guide

BMP5 (bone morphogenetic protein 5) is a secreted TGF-beta-superfamily ligand that activates bone morphogenetic protein receptor signalling and is studied in skeletal, bone and cartilage development.

Biological function: BMP5 is synthesized as a precursor that is processed to a secreted mature ligand of the TGF-beta superfamily. It signals through BMP receptor serine/threonine kinases to activate downstream SMAD pathways, supporting developmental programmes that include bone and cartilage formation.
