p21 / WAF1 / CIP1, également connu sous le nom d'inhibiteur de kinase dépendant de la cycline 1 ou protéine 1 interagissant avec la CDK, est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène CDKN1A. p21 est un puissant inhibiteur de kinase cycline-dépendante (CKI). La protéine p21 (CIP1/WAF1) se lie et inhibe l'activité des complexes cycline-CDK2, -CDK1 et -CDK4/6, et fonctionne ainsi comme un régulateur de la progression du cycle cellulaire en phases G1 et S.
