La protéine homéobox Hox-C13 est une protéine qui, chez l'homme, est codée par le gène HOXC13. Ce gène appartient à la famille des gènes homéobox. Les gènes homéobox codent pour une famille de facteurs de transcription hautement conservée qui jouent un rôle important dans la morphogenèse chez tous les organismes multicellulaires. Les mammifères possèdent quatre groupes de gènes homéobox similaires, HOXA, HOXB, HOXC et HOXD, qui sont situés sur différents chromosomes et se composent de 9 à 11 gènes disposés en tandem. Ce gène est l'un des nombreux gènes homéobox HOXC situés dans un groupe sur le chromosome 12. Le produit de ce gène pourrait jouer un rôle dans le développement des cheveux, des ongles et des papilles filiformes.
