Ce gène code une protéine qui est un membre de la famille M49 des métallopeptidases. Cette protéine cytoplasmique lie un seul ion zinc avec son motif de liaison au zinc (HELLGH) et possède une activité dipeptidyl aminopeptidase post-proline, clivant les dipeptides Xaa-Pro des N-terminaux des protéines. L'augmentation de l'activité de cette protéine est associée aux cancers de l'endomètre et de l'ovaire. Des variants de transcription épissés alternativement ont été trouvés pour ce gène.
