CASP9 identifies caspase 9 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 842, UniProtKB P55211 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.
Biological function: CASP9 is an initiator cysteine protease in the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. Following cytochrome-c-dependent apoptosome assembly with APAF1, procaspase-9 is activated and helps initiate the downstream caspase cascade.
