Product description

Background

Cell adhesion protein that participates in lymphocyte extravasation and recirculation by mediating the binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node vascular endothelial cells in an L-selectin-independent fashion. Has semicarbazide-sensitive (SSAO) monoamine oxidase activity. May play a role in adipogenesis.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human AOC3 antibody. AOC3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human AOC3 Antibody is added and binds to AOC3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated AOC3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human AOC3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

AOC3amine oxidase copper containing 3

View target guide

AOC3 (amine oxidase copper containing 3), widely known as vascular adhesion protein 1 (VAP-1) and semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO), is a cell-surface copper amine oxidase studied in amine metabolism and leukocyte trafficking.

Biological function: AOC3 is a copper-dependent primary amine oxidase that catalyses oxidative deamination of primary amines to aldehydes, producing hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. As vascular adhesion protein 1 (VAP-1), the endothelial cell-surface protein also has adhesion activity that contributes to lymphocyte extravasation and recirculation.
