Product description

Background

Critical component of the visual transduction cascade, controlling the calcium concentration of outer segments during light and darkness. Light causes a rapid lowering of cytosolic free calcium in the outer segment of both retinal rod and cone photoreceptors and the light-induced lowering of calcium is caused by extrusion via this protein which plays a key role in the process of light adaptation. Transports 1 Ca(2+) and 1 K(+) in exchange for 4 Na(+).

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human SLC24A1 antibody. SLC24A1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human SLC24A1 Antibody is added and binds to SLC24A1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SLC24A1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human SLC24A1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
