Product description

Background

Induces cartilage and bone formation. May be the osteoinductive factor responsible for the phenomenon of epithelial osteogenesis. Plays a role in calcium regulation and bone homeostasis (By similarity). Involved in the generation of primordial germ cells; this function involves Bmp4 in a synergistic manner though separate receptor complexes seem to be involved. Required for the initiation and maintenance of spermatogenesis. Signaling protein involved in regulation of thermogenesis and energy balance. Proposed to increase the peripheral response of brown adipose tissue (BAT) to adrenergic stimulation while acting centrally in the hypothalamus to increase sympathetic output to BAT.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse BMP8B antibody. BMP8B present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse BMP8B Antibody is added and binds to BMP8B in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated BMP8B antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse BMP8B. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
