Product description

Background

Growth factor that plays an essential role in the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell migration, survival and chemotaxis. Potent mitogen for cells of mesenchymal origin. Required for normal proliferation and recruitment of pericytes and vascular smooth muscle cells in the central nervous system, skin, lung, heart and placenta. Required for normal blood vessel development, and for normal development of kidney glomeruli. Plays an important role in wound healing. Signaling is modulated by the formation of heterodimers with PDGFA (By similarity).

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Canine PDGFB antibody. PDGFB present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Canine PDGFB Antibody is added and binds to PDGFB in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PDGFB antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine PDGFB. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

PDGFBplatelet derived growth factor subunit B

View target guide

PDGFB identifies platelet derived growth factor subunit B in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 5155, UniProtKB P01127 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: Platelet-derived growth factor subunit B (PDGFB; PDGF-B) is a secreted growth-factor chain that forms PDGF-BB homodimers or PDGF-AB heterodimers and activates PDGF receptor tyrosine kinases. It supports mitogenic and chemotactic signalling in mesenchymal and vascular-associated cells.
