Product description

Background

CCL3 (C-C motif chemokine ligand 3) represents a small inducible cytokine. The encoded protein, also known as macrophage inflammatory protein 1 alpha, plays a role in inflammatory responses through binding to the receptors CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5. Polymorphisms at this locus (CCL3) may be associated with both resistance and susceptibility to infection by human immunodeficiency virus type 1.

Research target context

CCL3C-C motif chemokine ligand 3

View target guide

CCL3 identifies C-C motif chemokine ligand 3 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 6348, UniProtKB P10147 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: CCL3 (MIP-1-alpha) is a secreted CC chemokine involved in inflammatory cell recruitment and immune-cell trafficking. It acts through chemokine receptors including CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5 and can recruit and activate leukocyte populations.
