Les polymorphismes de cette protéine semblent être spécifiques aux tissus et influencer le ciblage des protéases. Les variations de la séquence de cette protéine ont été impliquées dans la maladie d'Alzheimer, et une carence de cette protéine a été associée à une maladie du foie.
