Bcl-Xl Rabbit pAb is a research-use antibody from ELK Biotechnology for studying Bcl-Xl in IHC workflows with listed reactivity for Human, Rat, Mouse. Specifications and supporting documents below should be reviewed when planning the experiment.
Bcl-xL prevents apoptosis through two different mechanisms: heterodimerization with an apoptotic protein inhibits its apoptotic effect and formation of mitochondrial outer membrane pores help maintain a normal membrane state under stressful conditions.

BCL2 like 1 (BCL2L1) encodes Bcl-2-like protein 1, whose major splice isoforms include anti-apoptotic Bcl-xL and pro-apoptotic Bcl-xS. This BCL-2-family regulator is central to mitochondrial apoptosis and cell-survival research.
Biological function: BCL2L1 produces Bcl-2-like protein 1 isoforms with opposing effects on apoptosis. Bcl-xL inhibits cell death by limiting mitochondrial cytochrome-c release and caspase activation, whereas Bcl-xS promotes apoptosis. The reviewed human protein is also implicated in cell-cycle checkpoint regulation.
