Can you express a protein from an accession number?
An accession is a useful starting point. Confirm the isoform, boundaries, mutations and tags so the final construct can be agreed.
Which expression system is best?
The choice depends on the protein and application, including folding, modifications and yield requirements. The project review identifies a suitable route rather than promising a universal system.
Can I request tag-free or low-endotoxin material?
Include the required tag status and endotoxin limit in the enquiry. Feasibility, testing and cost are confirmed with the selected production route.
Is biological activity included in routine QC?
Only if it is specified. State the activity assay and acceptance criteria you need so it can be included in the quotation.
Which expression system should we choose?
Consider folding, disulphide bonds, modifications, secretion and the downstream assay. A bacterial route may suit some proteins; mammalian or insect systems may be appropriate where biological processing matters. A small feasibility stage can assess expression and purification before a larger supply is commissioned.
How do purity and biological activity differ?
Purity describes the material composition under the specified analytical method. It does not establish correct folding or useful activity. If the protein is an assay standard, ligand or functional reagent, define the activity or binding evidence required as well as concentration, formulation and identity checks.
