Built around the experiment

Your project. A defined technical scope.

A bispecific antibody combines recognition of two targets in a single engineered molecule. ABMIUM coordinates custom bispecific development from parental antibody sequences or an agreed discovery route. The project should connect format design to expression, purification and assessment of both binding arms. For immune-cell engager research, a functional assay plan is as important as demonstrating antigen binding.

Specialist ProMab service routes can be coordinated through ABMIUM. Your quotation identifies the selected provider, agreed stages, available documentation and material or experimental deliverables.

ABMIUM reviews your specification and coordinates suitable custom-service and manufacturing routes. The proposed provider or manufacturer, available documentation and agreed scope are stated before order.

Service modules

Start with one module or combine related stages into a clearly scoped project.

01

Bispecific format and sequence design

Discuss fragment-based and IgG-like formats, including BiTE, DART, CrossMAb, DVD-Ig and knobs-into-holes approaches where suitable. Supply parental sequences, antigen identities and intended...

Technical scope

Discuss fragment-based and IgG-like formats, including BiTE, DART, CrossMAb, DVD-Ig and knobs-into-holes approaches where suitable. Supply parental sequences, antigen identities and intended mechanism. Format selection should consider valency, geometry, expression and the assays available to evaluate the construct.

Technical scope

Start with an agreed expression and purification stage to assess whether the construct can be recovered in a useful form. Mammalian expression and purity assessment can be included. Define the pilot amount, buffer and material needed for the next experimental stage.

Technical scope

Plan assessment of each binding arm using appropriate antigen-based or cell-based assays. ELISA, western blot or flow cytometry may be scoped according to the antigen and sample. Binding to one target alone does not establish the performance of the complete bispecific molecule.

Technical scope

Progress selected constructs to a larger research expression stage and, where required, functional studies. Set the amount, acceptance criteria and analytical package before scale-up. Cell-based assays and preclinical evaluation can be requested as linked project modules.

Clear answers before you enquire

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to provide both antibody sequences?

Existing sequences can support a direct engineering route. If one or both binders need development, state that in the enquiry so discovery can be scoped separately.

Which bispecific format should I choose?

The appropriate format depends on your targets, intended mechanism, expression needs and assay system. The technical review can compare suitable options.

Is dual binding enough to establish function?

No. Binding and function answer different questions. Include the cell-based or other functional experiments needed for your research objective.

Can I commission a small pilot first?

A staged project can be discussed, with pilot expression and binding assessment preceding larger-scale material supply.

How do we choose a bispecific antibody format?

Start with the two targets, required geometry and intended mechanism. An IgG-like format and a fragment-based construct can differ in valency, size, production and behaviour. Existing binder sequences, Fc requirements and the planned assay help define which formats are worth assessing.

Does binding to two targets prove the construct works?

No. Individual binding measurements do not establish simultaneous binding or the desired biological response. Agree dual-binding experiments and mechanism-relevant functional testing, alongside identity, purity and aggregation checks.

What affects the cost of bispecific antibody development?

Pricing depends on available binder sequences, format design, number of constructs, purification and dual-binding or functional assessment. ABMIUM provides a project-specific quotation after reviewing the requirement. Ask for a breakdown of stages, deliverables, optional studies and further-work decision points so you can compare the total scope rather than an entry price alone.
