ABMIUM target intelligence
ATPase sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ transporting 2
ATP2A2 encodes SERCA2, a sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic-reticulum calcium pump that uses ATP hydrolysis to move cytosolic calcium into intracellular stores. This target record connects the human ATP2A2/SERCA2 reference identifiers with ABMIUM catalogue products targeting SERCA2.

Research context & evidence
Target information is kept separate from product-level validation so you can review the biology and the reagent evidence independently.
ATP2A2/SERCA2 is a magnesium-dependent calcium-transporting ATPase. It couples ATP hydrolysis to movement of Ca2+ from the cytosol into the sarcoplasmic or endoplasmic reticulum lumen, helping maintain intracellular calcium stores and calcium homeostasis. The reviewed UniProt record also supports roles in starvation-induced autophagy and regulation of endoplasmic-reticulum contact sites.
ATP2A2/SERCA2 is studied in calcium homeostasis, excitation-contraction biology, endoplasmic-reticulum function, autophagy and disorders linked to altered calcium handling. Reagent selection should distinguish SERCA isoforms and splice variants and should account for species, tissue, subcellular localisation, application and product-level validation.
