ABMIUM target intelligence
autophagy related 16 like 1
ATG16L1 encodes an autophagy factor that works with the ATG12-ATG5 complex to drive ATG8-family protein lipidation in canonical and non-canonical autophagy. This target record connects reviewed human ATG16L1 identifiers with ABMIUM catalogue products targeting ATG16L1.

Research context & evidence
Target information is kept separate from product-level validation so you can review the biology and the reagent evidence independently.
ATG16L1 is an essential component of canonical and non-canonical autophagy. Together with ATG12-ATG5, it forms an E3-like machinery that promotes phosphatidylethanolamine conjugation of ATG8-family proteins such as LC3 and GABARAP family members. ATG16L1 also acts as a molecular hub that coordinates distinct autophagy pathways and contributes to antibacterial autophagy.
ATG16L1 is studied in autophagosome formation, LC3/GABARAP lipidation, antibacterial autophagy, intestinal and Paneth-cell biology, and inflammatory-disease mechanisms. Interpretation should account for autophagy context, cellular compartment, stimulus, genetic variant or isoform, species, application and product-level validation.
