Caspase-9 is a member of caspases (cysteinyl aspartate-specific proteases). It plays an important role in inflammatory diseases and cancer
Tribo TM Caspase-9 Activity Fluorometric Assay Kit provides a simple and convenient method for assaying the activity of caspases that recognize the sequence DEVD. The assay is based on the detection of the free AFC fluorescence after cleavage from the labeled substrate DEVD -AFC (AFC: 7-amino-4-trifluoromethyl coumarin). The free AFC can be quantified using a fluorometer or a fluorescence microtiter plate reader at Ex400/Em505nm. Comparison of the fluorescence of AFC from an apoptotic sample with an uninduced control allows the determination of the fold increase in Caspase-9 activity

CASP9 identifies caspase 9 in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 842, UniProtKB P55211 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.
Biological function: CASP9 is an initiator cysteine protease in the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. Following cytochrome-c-dependent apoptosome assembly with APAF1, procaspase-9 is activated and helps initiate the downstream caspase cascade.
