ZNF512 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein that recognizes repetitive and non-consecutive TTC sequences in pericentric repeat and initiates heterochromatin formation through interaction with SUV39H1/2 methyltransferases which catalyze histone H3K9 methylation.
