Lectin that binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. LGALS1 plays a role in regulating apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. LGALS1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase.
