Product description

Background

APOD occurs in the macromolecular complex with lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase. It is probably involved in the transport and binding of bilin. Appears to be able to transport a variety of ligands in a number of different contexts.

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human APOD antibody. APOD present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human APOD Antibody is added and binds to APOD in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated APOD antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human APOD. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

APODapolipoprotein D

View target guide

Apolipoprotein D (APOD; ApoD/Apo-D) is a secreted lipid-binding glycoprotein associated mainly with high-density lipoprotein (HDL). It binds cholesterol and other hydrophobic ligands and is studied in lipid transport and lipoprotein biology.

Biological function: APOD is a secreted lipid-binding glycoprotein of the lipocalin family. Reviewed UniProt supports cholesterol-binding and lipid-transporter activity, association with lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), probable bilin transport, and the capacity to carry diverse hydrophobic ligands. In plasma, APOD is enriched in HDL.
