Product description

Background

Ca(2+)-dependent receptor for myeloid cells that binds to carbohydrates on neutrophils and monocytes (PubMed: 7683$458.00|$300.00). Mediates the interaction of activated endothelial cells or platelets with leukocytes. The ligand recognized is sialyl-Lewis X. Mediates rapid rolling of leukocyte rolling over vascular surfaces during the initial steps in inflammation through interaction with SELPLG (By similarity).

Test principle

This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Bovine SELP antibody. SELP present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Bovine SELP Antibody is added and binds to SELP in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated SELP antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Bovine SELP. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

Research target context

SELPselectin P

View target guide

SELP identifies selectin P in Homo sapiens (Human). This target record connects NCBI Gene 6403, UniProtKB P16109 and related ABMIUM catalogue products.

Biological function: SELP (P-selectin/CD62P) is a calcium-dependent adhesion receptor on activated platelets and endothelial cells that supports leukocyte tethering and rolling, including through SELPLG/PSGL1.
